Clinical nurse, PACU (post-anaesthesia care unit)

At which Ramsay site do you work?

Cairns Day Surgery

How long have you worked at Ramsay?

Started In July 2005 as a theatre technician at Cairns Private Hospital. This was an extremely enjoyable and fascinating experience and where I first developed a love for medicine and helping people and so my journey into nursing began. In 2010 I completed my Endorsed Enrolled Nursing Diploma and commenced employment as an anaesthetic nurse at Cairns Day Surgery. I then went on to complete my Nursing Degree and obtained registration in 2012.

What is your favourite thing about being a nurse?

Helping, caring and improving people’s wellness and quality of life every day through a surgical process brings a great feeling of satisfaction and delight.

What are you passionate about?

Caring and helping our patients in whichever way I can. Creating a positive work environment for patients, staff, VMO’s and visitors. Problem solving, learning and helping create desirable outcomes for all involved.

What are your aspirations for the future?

After working passionately in the operating theatre and recovery for several years, I was given the opportunity to step up into the level 2 Clinical Nurse position in PACU at Cairns Day Surgery. This has been an exceptional and rewarding journey with Ramsay Health Care and I endeavour to continue to pursue my professional career with this wonderful organisation!
