What is your favourite thing about being a midwife?
I get to be part of the biggest experience of a woman’s life. I see her pain, her fears and tears; and the cheer happiness when she holds her newborn in her arms. I feel like I am happier than the mother herself at that moment.
What are you passionate about?
I am devoted to being a midwife. This is a profession that is meaningful and quite unique. It’s intimate, personal, celebratory and at times requires intense involvement. I passionate about learning new ways and methods on how to deliver better care to my patients. Learning new skills will make be productive and keep up with the demands of our patients. I want my patients to know that they are receiving the best medical care.
What are your aspirations for the future?
The fear of pregnancy and childbirth are perfectly normal but for some the concerns are a lot stronger. My job is to ensure that they are well supported in the decisions they make. Also, I need to make sure that they start to enjoy the pregnancy. I am excited by the prospect of having high level of responsibility and independence that corresponds with being a midwife. I want to be a manager someday. To support and be an advocate for my colleagues while still demanding excellence. I want to work hard every day to ensure women and newborns receive the high-quality care they deserve.
