What is your job title?

At which Ramsay hospital do you work?

I work at Subang Jaya Medical Centre, Malaysia.

For how long have you worked at Ramsay?

I have been with the hospital for 6 years, since April 2014.

What is your favourite thing about being a nurse/midwife?

Nursing has been a passion since I was a kid. My aunty was a staff nurse and she was my role model. I grew up seeing my aunt’s dedication towards her patients and I try to emulate her selfless ways. I work in a multi-disciplinary ward. No two days are the same. Everyday I learn something new from my colleagues and from my patients. I love the opportunity to care for the sick. All of us are different in our own ways but when it comes to our patients, we set aside our differences and work together as a team. This is the reason I love being a Nurse.

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about learning. Learning new things everyday allows me to grow both as an individual and professionally. Continuous learning provides unlimited opportunities. I feel so good when I see improvement in my patients. I provide emotional support to my patients and their family members when they most need it. Since young I have been eager to lend a sympathetic ear or provide a helping hand to my friends in need no matter what kind of problems they were facing. As a health professional, I am gratified to spend every day serving the needs of my patients. I realized that I wanted to take on more responsibilities and make substantial differences to the lives of my patients.

What are your aspirations for the future?

I hope to pursue a bachelor’s degree someday. I want to be actively involved in nursing quality improvements and take patient care to a higher level with more evidence-based practices. Being a nurse is the most righteous decision I have made in my life.
