What is your job title?

Ward Manager

At which Ramsay site do you work?

Tees Valley Hospital, Middlesbrough

For how long have you worked at Ramsay?

I have worked for Ramsay for 13 years – starting out as a newly qualified staff nurse at Park Hill Hospital in Doncaster then transferring to the Tees Valley Treatment Centre where I was given the opportunity to develop into senior staff nurse. When Tees Valley Hospital opened I was promoted to Outpatients Manager and later promoted again to Ward Manager.

What is your favourite thing about being a nurse?

My favourite thing about being a nurse is making a difference to a person’s life and their stay in hospital however small or major that impact is. It is a genuinely rewarding feeling knowing that you have made someone feel less scared or more comfortable.

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about my patients – making sure they have the best stay and best standard of care while they are with us. I am also passionate about my staff members, my team and making sure they work in a safe, happy environment so they are also able to deliver the best care possible.

What are your aspirations for the future?

I am happy in my role as Ward Manager at the moment as it is a new role for me. I have lots of ideas and processes I am working on implementing to deliver the best, most effective care we can.
